Museum of the Moving Image is the ideal venue if you are looking for a unique, modern location for your wedding or celebration. The Museum is available for private events Monday through Thursday starting at 6:00 pm and on Saturday and Sunday evenings beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The Museum's sleek Lobby/Cafe as well as its versatile Digital Learning Suite are flexible spaces for dinner and dancing that can be configured in different ways depending on the style of your reception. Galleries remain open during your event for guests to enjoy the Museum's many interactive experiences, iconic artifacts, and vintage video games. There are multiple opportunities for the projection of custom content throughout the Museum. The Museum's Courtyard space is also available (weather permitting).

A film screening in the Redstone Theater

The Museum’s 262-seat Sumner M. Redstone Theater and 68-seat Celeste and Armand Bartos Screening Room are available for private screenings. The theaters offer the latest technology and equipment, accommodating all film formats from 16mm to 70mm and DCP. The Museum retains the right to approve all audiovisual materials presented in the theaters.

All event fees help to support the Museum's collections, services, and programs.

Museum of the Moving Image is the perfect destination for corporate events, conferences, and team building activities. Our existing AV infrastructure is available to enhance the experience with multiple opportunities for branding and the projection of custom content.

The 262-seat Sumner M. Redstone Theater can be used for general sessions, private screenings, video game tournaments, lectures, and panel discussions. Our intimate 68-seat screening room is available for smaller meetings or breakout sessions. The theaters offer the latest technology and equipment, accommodating film formats from 16mm to 3-D digital projection.

The Museum can offer a wide variety of activities including:

The Digital Learning Suite can be configured as a dining room for up to 250 guests, two discreet classrooms with projection facilities, or an exhibition hall. The serene white interior provides a blank canvas easily transformed by using colorful tablecloths or optional LED lighting fixtures. The Seminar Room offers exceptional executive quarters for up to 25 guests and features a fixed conference table and video capability.

Our core exhibition Behind the Screen has multiple interactive stations where guests can make flipbooks, create stop motion animations, dub their voices into classic films, choose sound effects and soundtracks for popular movies, and view artifacts from Star Wars, Black Swan, Blade Runner, Taxi Driver, Sex and the City, The Cosby Show, The Godfather, The Exorcist, Chicago, and many others.

The Museum also features a vintage game arcade with classic games such as Asteroids, Space Invaders, and more. Unlimited free play in the arcade is included with a full Museum rental.

In addition to the Sumner M. Redstone Theater and Celeste and Armand Bartos Screening Room, Tut’s Fever is a working movie theater as well as an art installation created by Red Grooms and Lysiane Luong. This 30-seat theater is an homage to the ornate, exotic picture palaces of the 1920’s and is ideal for displaying custom content or vintage short films.

The Sumner M. Redstone Theater

A state-of-the-art facility—beautifully designed with blue felt-paneled walls and stadium seating—the Sumner M. Redstone Theater offers the latest technology and equipment, accommodating all film formats from 16mm to 70mm, DCP and Digital 3-D. 262 seats.

Celeste and Armand Bartos Screening Room

An intimate space for education programs, special screenings, lectures, and seminars. 68 seats.

Digital Learning Suite

This flexible space can accommodate up to 240 guests for a seated dinner. The room can be configured into two separate classrooms, each with its own projection facility.

Café

The 44-seat café can be repurposed by removing the tables and chairs. With the addition of the lobby and/or the William Fox Amphitheater, this gathering space with courtyard views offers a variety of flexible floorplan options.

William Fox Amphitheater

The William Fox Amphitheater can accommodate 54 guests and features an LCD monitor capable of displaying custom content. When used in conjunction with the Digital Learning Suite, the space—which has a separate entrance—can also be used for the display of video materials.

Seminar Room

The seminar room offers exceptional executive quarters for meetings of up to 25. There is a fixed conference table and video capability.

The Museum’s Sumner M. Museum galleries and exhibits can remain open during private events.
