SCREENING

Alien

Ongoing

Dir. Ridley Scott. 1979, 117 mins. DCP. With Tom Skerritt, Sigourney Weaver, Veronica Cartwright. The tagline “Jaws in space” neatly summed up the concept of Alien, a gutwrenching, atmospheric blend of horror and sci-fi directed by Ridley Scott, with an inventive visual style designed by H.R. Giger, the Swiss painter of the bizarre. Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley, part of a crew of astronauts whose spaceship is invaded by a vicious bioform, is one of the first female protagonists in a sci-fi movie.

Tickets for Friday evening screenings: $12 ($9 for senior citizens and students / free for Museum members) and includes admission to the Museum’s galleries, which are open until 8:00 p.m. For more information on membership and to join online, visit our membership
