SCREENING

Dog City/Song of the Cloud Forest

Ongoing

Location: Redstone Theater

Dir. Jim Henson. 1989. Digital projection. Jim Henson won an Emmy for directing Dog City, originally shown on The Jim Henson Hour. Dog City features a fully realized Muppet universe—a 1940s film noir city populated entirely by dogs, with Muppet favorite Rowlf the Dog narrating from a piano. Henson received an Emmy nomination for directing another segment from The Jim Henson Hour, Song of the Cloud Forest. The story of Milton, an endangered golden toad searching for his mate, Song of the Cloud Forest was a pioneering program—produced entirely against an Ultimate screen with the show’s backgrounds generated by a Paintbox, an early computer graphics workstation. Program length: 72 minutes.
