Ghostbusters
Ongoing
Dir. Ivan Reitman. 1984, 105 mins. Restored DCP. With Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Sigourney Weaver. The fourth collaboration between co-writer Harold Ramis and producer-director Ivan Reitman yielded their most enduringly popular comedy, a summer blockbuster celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Anchored by Bill Murray’s trademark sarcasm, a wild performance by Dan Aykroyd, and a memorable and rare starring role by Ramis at his neurotic best, the film is about a trio of out-of-work scientists who start a paranormal investigation business in an old Manhattan firehouse. Ghostbusters is the most successful film to mix science-fiction with laugh-out-loud comedy.
