Jan Svankmajer’s enchanting new film uses a combination of collages and live action to tell the story of a man who leads a double life—one real, the other in his dreams. He finds a way to enter his dreams at will, to explore his childhood and see what really happened to his parents. His wife forces him to make a choice between dream and reality.
