Man on Wire

Ongoing

In August 1974, a young Frenchman named Philippe Petit captivated New York City by sneaking into the World Trade Center and walking on a cable strung between the not-yet-open Twin Towers. James Marsh’s Academy Award-winning documentary captures the excitement of the daring walk and also the thrilling story of the six years of planning that went into the stunt. The film, an uplifting and enchanting tribute to human ingenuity, never mentions the destruction of the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001; instead, it poignantly brings them back to life, reminding us of a magic New York moment long before 9/11.
