Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory

Ongoing

Followed by a discussion with Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky. Presented by Cinema Eye Honors and HBO Documentary Films

Dirs. Joe Berlinger, Bruce Sinofsky. 2011, 106 mins. The third chapter in the acclaimed Paradise Lost trilogy chronicles the controversial case of the West Memphis Three: teenagers who were convicted of raping, mutilating, and killing three eight-year-old boys in Arkansas. Fraught with innuendos of devil worship, allegations of coerced confessions, and emotionally charged statements, the case was one of the most sensational in state history. In large part because of the investigations in the Paradise Lost films, the accused were recently released from prison. On January 11, Berlinger and Sinofsky will receive Cinema Eye’s inaugural Hell Yeah prize, celebrating the trilogy’s artistic achievements and its measurable real world impact.

Tickets: $15 public / $10 Museum members / Free for Silver Screen members and above.
