Passion and Purpose: An Evening with Rachel Weisz and preview screening of The Whistleblower

Ongoing

With Rachel Weisz, Monica Belluci, Vanessa Redgrave, David Strathairn. Courtesy Samuel Goldwyn Films.

Rachel Weisz, the Academy Award winning actress (for The Constant Gardener), also known for her roles in films including About a Boy and The Mummy, will discuss her remarkable career following a preview screening of her new film, The Whistleblower. In this thriller, inspired by actual events, Kathy (Rachel Weisz) is an American police officer who takes a job working as a peacekeeper in post-war Bosnia. Her expectations of helping to rebuild a devastated country are dashed when she uncovers a dangerous reality of corruption, cover-up, and intrigue amid a world of private contractors and multinational diplomatic doubletalk. Directed by first time filmmaker Larysa Kondracki, the film also stars Academy Award winner Vanessa Redgrave, Monica Bellucci and Academy Award nominee David Strathairn. After the screening, Weisz will discuss the film and her career, in a conversation with Chief Curator David Schwartz.

Tickets: $25 public / $15 Museum members / Free for Silver Screen members and above. Call 718 777 6800 or order online.
