The Professor: Tai Chi’s Journey West

Ongoing

With director Barry Strugatz and cinematographer Ken Van Sickle in person

Dir. Barry Strugatz. 2016, 72 mins. DCP. The Professor: Tai Chi’s Journey West tells the story of Tai Chi through one of its greatest masters, Cheng Man-ching, a man who brought Tai Chi and Chinese culture to the West during the swinging, turbulent 60s. Though Cheng is considered an important transformational figure, his teachings have been largely overlooked. This documentary is a fascinating corrective, surveying his remarkable life and delving into Tai Chi as both a martial art and a spiritual practice.
