The Museum moving forward

(Updated April 24, 2020)

Community Update: Museum of the Moving Image is dedicated to giving back to our local Queens community—a place we’ve been rooted in and grown with for more than 30 years. We are committed to helping support our friends and neighbors until we see the other side of this crisis.

Starting Monday, April 20, the Museum will be a free meal distribution site for Chef José Andrés’s World Central Kitchen as part of their COVID-19 relief efforts.
Address: 36-01 35 Ave (at 36 Street)
Distribution will take place from the 37 Street side entrance.
Monday–Friday, 12:00–3:00 p.m. (or until meals are no longer available)

(Message from March 20, 2020)
As you all know, the Museum’s facility—along with other museums, cultural centers, and movie theaters across the city and the world—has closed temporarily due to the coronavirus outbreak. Since we announced this last Friday, the situation has changed dramatically. The building will remain closed until further notice.

While our exhibitions and on-site programs are suspended, our activity has not ceased. As an institution devoted to the moving image—an important conduit for both information and escape in the current moment—we are exploring new ways to continue serving our communities. Please take a moment to respond to this brief survey.

In these challenging and unprecedented times, we will continue serving as a “place” of inspiration, communion, and education. Like you, we look forward to the day when we can again meet in person, happily welcoming visitors through our doors. Until then, we are confident in our ability to offer ways to connect in virtual spaces.

Sincerely,

Carl Goodman,
Executive Director
