2022 TEEN FILM FESTIVAL
MoMI’s Teen Council is excited to announce the annual Teen Film Festival, featuring short films—by you!
Media education is digital literacy. Museum of the Moving Image provides educational experiences to more than 70,000 students each year, as well as an array of dynamic, engaging tours, talks, workshops, and screenings for children, teens, families, adults, and seniors. MoMI Education is now offering virtual field trips for school groups, as well as virtual tours of our interactive exhibitions and virtual media workshops for all ages and all abilities.
Virtual workshops range from film appreciation and world-building with video games to science fiction cinema, hands-on media-making and puppetry for the screen. Online educational programs are led by museum educators, media artists, filmmakers, and game designers, and specifically tailored to the interests of your group. Great for schools, home-school groups, seniors, college classes, and anyone interested in the cinematic arts. Los recorridos virtuales de exhibición, los debates sobre películas y los talleres prácticos lo ayudan a enseñar el plan de estudios básico con el apoyo de un entorno dinámico e interactivo.
Year-round, families can explore the Museum’s hands-on core exhibition Behind the Screen, featuring over 1,400 artifacts, from mind-bending optical toys to a real Chewbacca mask from the Guerra de las Galaxias films, plus an array of interactive experiences to make stop-motion animations, add sound effects and music to famous movie scenes, and star in a personalized flipbook.
SUMMER MEDIA CAMPS
Museum of the Moving Image held the 2021 edition of its popular media camp July 12–August 20. Onsite camp sessions run Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Week-long virtual sessions were also offered for campers who wished to participate remotely. Check back for next year’s Summer Media Camp.
VIDEO PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP
In this intensive workshop, participants will work with the senses to develop a video performance artwork using themes of autobiography, territory, and migration. It is open to emerging artists ages 16 to 100+, and led by visual artist Natalía Dominguez, originally from San Salvador, El Salvador.
