Dir. Danny Boyle. U.K., 2002, 113 mins. 35mm. With Cillian Murphy, Naomie Harris, Christopher Eccleston. One of the most influential horror films of the 21st century, 28 Days Later is a tightly conceived and powerful look at a society overcome by a virus that doesn’t kill, but causes people to turn on each other by inducing rage. A smash for Trainspotting director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland (Ex Machina), and featuring a breakout performance by Naomie Harris (Moonlight), this prescient thriller masterfully updated the zombie genre.
