Dir. Bill Forsyth. 1989, 94 mins. 35mm. With Burt Reynolds, Casey Siemaszko, Sheila Kelley. While robbing a house–in what is supposed to be his last job–Burt Reynolds’ small-time crook runs into a hapless teenager who has broken into the same house, just to swipe some food from the refrigerator and watch some TV. Needless to say, they team up, and plan a post-July 4th heist at the local amusement park. Although Siemaszko’s character is the film’s main focus, this was a pleasant comeback film for Reynolds, whose relaxed acting style is a perfect fit for Forsyth’s ambling style.
