Eyeworks Festival of Experimental Animation: Program Two
Saturday, Nov 11, 2023 at 6:00 pm
Location: Redstone Theater
The Eyeworks Festival is an annual screening series focusing on experimental animation presented by Pioneer Works. This year, Museum of the Moving Image hosts the New York presentation of the 2023 program (also showing at REDCAT in Los Angeles and Block Cinema in Chicago).
Eyeworks focuses on works made by individual artists, drawing on the tradition of classic cartoon animation and the lineages of avant-garde and underground cinema. The aim of Eyeworks, founded in 2010, is to present works that engage the enormous potential inherent in the artform of animation, and to show pieces that use animation as part of distinctly personal, conceptual, exploratory, and critical practices. David OReilly, Lori Damiano, Nancy Andrews, Caleb Wood, Takeshi Murata, Martin Arnold, Jacolby Satterwhite, Naoyuki Tsuji, Janie Geiser, Laura Harrison, and Barry Doupé have been featured as festival guests, with retrospective screenings. The Eyeworks Festival is organized by Alexander Stewart and Lilli Carré and is presented by Pioneer Works.
Pioneer Works Presents is the moniker used for Pioneer Works’ off-site programming production. Through Pioneer Works Presents, Pioneer Works extends its programming and artistic direction outside of its Red Hook walls to create ambitious concerts, performances, and exhibitions.
