Dir. Clive Barker. 1987, 93 mins. 35mm. With Ashley Laurence, Claire Higgins, Sean Chapman, Doug Bradley. Years after opening a mysterious puzzle box and being dragged to Hell by Pinhead (Bradley) and his Cenobites, Frank (Chapman) is inadvertently brought back to life by Julia (Higgins), his sister-in-law and former lover, who agrees to kill for the deviant yet alluring zombie so that he can continue growing stronger. However, Julia’s young stepdaughter Kristy (Laurence) soon discovers this sinister pact, as well as the mysterious puzzle box. The box is opened, and the Cenobites return looking for their pound of flesh. Filled with sensationally disgusting gore effects and remarkable makeup, novelist Barker’s confident directorial debut is a sexually deviant, genre-defining horror classic.
