Moving Image Studio – Lunar New Year celebration

Ongoing

Location: Nam June Paik Room / HBO Production Lab

Moving Image Studio is the Museum’s drop-in space where visitors of all ages can create media and other projects. Families are welcome to stop by and experiment by performing in front of a green-screen or create live animation works using lego sets. Themes are inspired by the core exhibition Behind the Screen and the special exhibition Envisioning 2001: Stanley Kubrick’s Space Odyssey.

On February 1 and 2: Moving Image Studio celebrates the Lunar New Year with a variety of activities bringing East Asian and Southeast Asian folk arts to media making! Explore the zodiac animal story with stop-motion animation. Travel through green screen backdrops of diverse countries where Lunar New Year is celebrated. Perform a lion dance puppet to bring good fortune to your own DIY background that represents home. And, experience a variety of East Asian children’s animated films!

Free with Museum admission. Recommended for ages 4 and up and their adult companions.
