Dir. Alfred Hitchcock. 1954, 112 mins. 35mm. With Grace Kelly, James Stewart, Thelma Ritter. Housebound with a broken leg, a photojournalist (Stewart) grows suspicious of what he perceives as a murder that has taken place across his courtyard, while at the same time he must negotiate the advances of his marriage-ready glamour-gal girlfriend (a pristine Kelly). There are few purer cinematic pleasures than Hitchcock’s claustrophobic thriller, the movie’s ultimate self-reflexive statement on voyeurism, and one of the most entertaining, witty films ever made.

Tickets for Friday evening screenings: $12 ($9 for senior citizens and students / free for Museum members) and includes admission to the Museum’s galleries, which are open until 8:00 p.m.
