With their vast labyrinthine spaces, their alluring blend of private and public spaces, and their ever-changing cast of characters, hotels are naturally cinematic. On the occasion of the latest great example, Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel, here is a selection of some of the best hotel movies, including films directed by the Coen brothers, Ingmar Bergman, Sofia Coppola, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, and Stanley Kubrick.
