IndieCade East 2015

IndieCade East (ICE) is the Museum’s annual celebration of independent games and the people who make and play them. The exciting weekend features dozens of new and unreleased games, including IndieCade 2014 Festival winners and finalists, and a packed schedule of talks, panels, and workshops by designers, developers, players, organizers, thinkers, activists, historians, critics, and provocateurs. IndieCade is the country’s premier festival for independent video games, dedicated to the discovery, development, and recognition of independent designers and developers from around the world.
Throughout the weekend, IndieCade East attendees may visit the Game Showcase, featuring more than 30 playable games, including IndieCade 2014 award-winners; the e-Sports  and exhibitor showcases noted below; while also exploring the Museum’s other galleries. ICE also features Show & Tell presentations by emerging game makers (Saturday and Sunday) and the popular Night Games (Saturday only), an evening of social, performative gameplay in a party environment. Conference

Three days of talks, panels, and workshops that cover theories of games and play, discussions about the future of the medium, and practical concerns for new and emerging game makers. This year’s sessions focus on diversity, storytelling, the “third wave” of independent games, and creators who have not traditionally been thought of as being game makers, but to whom the art and craft of independent games owes much. Night Games (Saturday only)

IndieCade East’s annual party fills the Museum’s spaces with social, physical, performative, and persistent games late into the evening. From large projections to improvisational theater games, Night Games turns the Museum into one big indie arcade.

eSports Showcase

 Play new competitive games or cheer along as commentators narrate the exciting action. Tournaments all weekend long will crown champions of the indie videosports of tomorrow.

Show and Tell Lounge (Saturday and Sunday)

 Be the first to see brand new games in development and share your feedback with their creators as you learn about their processes and inspirations. Or sign up to present your own game and put it in front of hundreds of eager players (Saturday and Sunday only).

Exhibitor Showcase

 Play new independent titles made for the Sony PlayStation 4, Vita and the Nintendo Wii U; experiment with some of Facebook’s recent releases; try new games coming out of independent studio JunkLatch, Long Island University, and the NYU Game Center.

Order IndieCade East Passes:

Full Festival Pass (Friday–Sunday access): $125 public / $100 students/seniors/Museum members 

Day Two (Saturday, includes access to Night Games, 7:00–10:00 p.m.): $55 public / $45 students/seniors/Museum members. Saturday day passes are no longer available for advance purchase online, but are available at the Museum’s admissions desk while supplies last.

Day Three (Sunday): $45 public / $35 students/seniors/Museum members
For families: Children and accompanying adults will be able to access the IndieCade East Games showcase throughout the weekend as part of their Museum visit. While many of the games on view will appeal young visitors, please note that some games may not be suitable for children. Regular Museum admission is $12 adults / $9 seniors and students / $6 children (3–12).
IndieCade East scheduled talks and workshops have limited capacity and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.  Pass holders are not guaranteed admission to all programs.
