Marvels of Media Festival 2023

The Museum’s Marvels of Media initiative is dedicated to celebrating and honoring media-makers on the autism spectrum with a media awards ceremony, film festival (April 2023), and exhibition (March 30–April 30). Through this program, the Museum strives to increase opportunities for and representation of established and aspiring autistic media-makers. In addition to celebrating the work submitted through an open submission and nomination process, the second annual Marvels of Media expands the Museum’s accessibility efforts for autistic visitors through the creation of a sensory-friendly space in the Media Lab and sensory kits, which are available at the front desk throughout the run of the exhibition.  

The 2023 Marvels of Media awards and festival were organized by arts administrator Miranda Lee and MoMI’s Assistant Curator of Public Programs Tiffany Joy Butler. Filmmaker Carrie Hawks, a 2022 Marvels of Media awardee, served as guest curator of the Marvels of Media Exhibition.
