The Hollywood Classics behind Walkers

Nov 8, 2015 — Apr 10, 2016

A series of screenings and artist talks in conjunction with the exhibition Walkers: Hollywood Afterlives in Art and Artifact, on view at the Museum from November 7, 2015 through April 10, 2016.

The exhibition Walkers: Hollywood Afterlives in Art and Artifact uses painting, photography, sculpture, and video to illuminate that most captivating and immersive of art forms, the cinema. It is only fitting that the Museum’s magnificent movie theater, the Sumner M. Redstone Theater, be used as an extension of the exhibition with screenings of films featured in Walkers—those that inspired the artists in the exhibition—and a series of artist talks. Three artists—Pierre Bismuth, Guy Maddin, and Tom Sachs—will appear in person to discuss their work with related screenings. Organized by MOMI Chief Curator David Schwartz and Robert M. Rubin, curator, Walkers: Hollywood Afterlives in Art and Artifact.
